Items required : a Panchakuccham Dhoti and
an Angavastram (You can use pins to keep the folded pleats intact; don’t forget to remove the pins
before changing dress)
(1) Hold the dhoti such that the lower end is at level with the floor
(2)Knot a portion of the dhoti with the other (larger) half, tying it firmly near the waist
(3)Fold one portion of the dhoti (the portion on the left)
(3 or 4 folds, each fold measuring ¾ th of hand)
(4)The folded portion of the dhoti must be taken between the legs and tucked firmly at the back
(5)Fold the remaining portion (the portion on the right)
(6)Tuck the folded portion firmly at the waist
(7)This is how the tied panchakuccham looks.
(8)Fold the angavastram and wear it around the waist like a belt. And now the "Maapillai" sir is ready!
