"Microwave" Modhagam
Ingredients
For the Outer layer
Rice Flour - 1 cup
Water - 1 cup
Oil/Ghee - 1 table spoon
Salt
Add the above ingredients in a microwave safe bowl and mix well. Keep it in microwave for 2-3 min on high power. Remove the mix and blend the dough to make small balls.
For The Filling
Fresh grated Coconut - 2 cups
Jaggery - 1 cup
Cinnamon – 2
Cashew nut - 10
Mix grated fresh coconut and jaggery and microwave it for 2
mts on high. The jaggery melts and mixes with grated cocunut and becomes thick. Remove the mixture from microwave and add cinnamon and cashew to it.
Method:
1. Take a small ball of the outer layer and shape it
like a cup using thumb finger.
2. Stuff the filling inside the cup.
3. Close the opening by twisting the tip.
4. Steam cook the finished modhagams in microwave for 3
mts in medium power.
(Note : Do not cook more than 3)
“Microwave“ Kozhukkattai
Ingredients :
Rice Flour - 1 cup
Ghee/oil - 2 tsp
Jaggery - 1/4 cup
Water - 1 cup
Salt - a Pinch
Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
Method :
1. Take a microwave safe bowl, add some ghee and very little amount of water say 2 ounce of water to the jaggery and keep it in microwave for 2 minutes
on high.
2. The Jaggery will melt and becomes watery. Pour the melted jaggery to the rice flour and add the remaining
ghee. Add water, grated coconut, cashew and a pinch of salt.
Mix the dough nicely to make small balls.
3. Keep the ball on the greased palm and just fold it. The Kozhukattai will appear in the shape of oval ball. Make all the balls ready and keep it in microwave for 5 – 6 minutes on high power.
(Note : - Keep the kozhukattai on the greased microwave plate without touching each other. )
