From:

Dr. Uma Ramesh. F.R.C.S.(Edinburgh), F.R.C.S.(Glasgow) F.R.C.S.I.(Dublin), D.O.M.S.

Toronto.

I am an eye surgeon and Iam a fellow in Sunnybrook hospital,Toronto & university of Toronto. I have had my full qualifications & training from England & Ireland.

I am doing a study on the incidence of Pxf Glaucoma( a type of Glaucoma). Pxf is a white material found inside the eyes which can be detected only with the special instrument used for eye examination. When this material is present it can produce cataract &Glaucoma in the eyes.

The Glaucoma produced by this Pxf is very severe & leads to blindness if not treated. The first symptom of Glaucoma is unfortunately blindness. Once blindness sets in it is irreversible and noboby can give back the sight. Therefore prevention is better than cure! Unfortunately this > condition is found to be more frequent in Tamils than the others. That is the reason I am doing this study. I will be checking the eyes of people of Tamil origin who are 45 years of age or above. (from Tamil nadu,Sri Lanka,Singapore,Malaysia or anywhere in the world.)

I am a Tamilian. So I can speak the tamil language which would be useful for those who cannot speak the English language. By coming for this eye exam you are benefiting also from this free eye exam done by a fully qualified and trained eye surgeon. If you have decided to come please contact the eye secretary Mary or Elaine at Sunnybrook hospital at 416 480 5882 for appointment.
