Have you ever liked to direct a particular artiste or has any artiste been an inspiration for any script?

Yes, actor Ajith has been an inspiration for my first film 'Vali'. But I am person who gives importance to my script rather than preparing a script for a particular artiste. I frame the script and then select the artiste who can bring life to the character in my script.

You are producing 'New' and making your debut as a hero. There are two risks in this. Are you anxious?

I want thrill and risk to be part of my life. This changes my attitude towards life and motivates me to do things differently. There is no fun in life, if risk is not involved. I have always wanted to be an actor. But what is fascinating is that I am producing my own film and also making my debut as a hero. And I will succeed because I am an optimist. I feel that every director is anxious whether his movie will be a success or not. And I am more anxious because I am a producer, hero and the director of the film 'New'.

Ajit is your favorite hero and has been going through a bad patch. Perhaps your movie 'New' could have been a break for him if you had not snatched it from him. What is your opinion on this?

Ajith was the person who gave me a break and of course he is my favorite hero. I am making my debut as a hero with the approval of Ajith sir. So there is no question of snatching it from him. It is a known fact that there will always be ups and downs in the film industry. And I am confident that an actor like Ajith can still do wonders in film industry.

What is new in 'New'?

Everything is new in 'New'. It is a trend setter film for the industry. It has a different story which will capture the audience in a different way. 'New' is a humorous movie and its music is composed by A.R Rahman. The story of the film 'New' is very different for the Tamil and the Telugu film industry. So I think it is better to wait and see what is new in 'New'.

What is the story line of 'New'? Can you tell us about the crew as well?

Story line of 'New' is known to everybody. It is an inspiration from the film 'Big'. Simran is the heroine and A.R Rahman has composed the music. K.V. Guhan has done the camera work. There are about 9 songs in this movie. 'New' is to be released in May.

Is there any project on the line after 'New'?

'New' is being done in Tamil and Telegu. I commit projects only after the completion of the projects I am in. Now my total concentration is on the film 'New'.

You have been to Tollywood and Bollywood. Any dreams to Hollywood?

There are lots of new directors. In your view, who has potential to make an impact? (May be like you)

I feel that every director should know what people expect out of their films. He must be able to feel the pulse of the audience. His story should reach the audience and stay in their hearts. Most of the films are commercial involving the investment of crores of money . It is the responsibility of the director to first prepare a good script and make the artistes bring life to the characters in the movie. A director can make his movie a huge success if he is confident about his screenplay and direction. It is not a big deal for a person to write a story and direct a movie. But what is important is to make a good movie and earn a name as the No 1. director. This can be achieved only by giving what the mass wants. If the mass feels that the movie is crap then they throw away the movie as well as the director.
