Wow! What a beautiful tamil poetical title for a
tamil movie, after a long time ? The Oxymoronic title, already hit
songs, Trisha, producers of Nandha, director being the assistant
of Bala - all these raised the expectations for this film.
Right from the opening scene, Ameer, the
director of the film hints us that it's not an yet another love
story. Though we can sense Bala's influence over him in many scenes,
he has mixed commercial attractions in the film in right proportions.
With the majority
of Tamil film directors praising love in their films and heroes
toiling to unite the lovers, here Surya plays the role
of an young chap who is allergic to girls and love who even parts
a pair. As the title suggests he also falls in love in the second
half of the film. Surya, the once lover boy who had transformed
into an arrogant guy with staring looks suits the role like a
glove. He is maturing into a realistic actor.
Nanthakumar
who has made a debut in this movie has done a commendable job.
It's difficult to believe that it is his first movie. Anju Mahendra
tries to lighten the mood by his wits.
Trisha, with the girl
next door look has done a decent job, neither overdoing nor underplaying
the role. But unfortunately, there is no prominence for the charecter
in the movie.
Surya whose character is depicted as the one who is hating love
and girls, who even insults his friend for taking him to his lover's
birthday treat, suddenly falling in love with Trisha in matter
of seconds is not digestable. In fact it is a clear case of character
assassination.
Except for the "Arupadhu aayidichu" song, which is a speed breaker
to the flow of the story, all the songs are picturised beautifully
and differently. But the songs should have not been paced properly.
Ramji, the cinematographer has tried innovative
shots. But at times camera angles seem very funny.
Yuvan
has given excellent background score and songs.Especially the
theme music and humming of the film is compulsorily addictive
to the listeners. Thank
god, there are no songs shot at streets of Newzealand or Australia,
no villain, no sentitimental craps, No artificial whishing sound
effects for every movements of hero etc.
Certainly, "Mounam Pesiyadhey" is not a run of the
mill tamilfilm and appreciation goes to Ameer for his efforts to
make the movie different.
