Pachaikili
Muthucharam - Music Review
Music: Harris Jeyaraj
Lyrics: Thamarai
Direction: Gowtham Menon
Music is usually of two types. Good music
and good selling music.
Harris Jeyaraj is a specialist in churning
out good selling music, that sells like hot
cakes .
In his studio, he has a press where he mints
out hit songs out of same casts of
previously used success formula.
Goutham Menon and Harris Jeyaraj team
usually come out with excellent results when
it comes to hip hop songs and picturization.
Pachaikili muthucharam has 5 songs, all
having the potential to hit the charts for
sure.
Unakkul naane -
Bombay
Jeyashree
Bombay Jeyashree crooning for Harris Jeyaraj,
that too for a Goutham Menon film, shoots up
the expectations. Bombay Jeyashree's perfect
rendering and Thamarai's meaningful lyrics
make this song special and thereby meeting
expectations. Same old ragged rhythm pattern
we heard in "Suttum vizhi" and "Paartha
mudhal naale" is used here too. It is unfair
if the wondeful violin in the second
interlude is not given a special mention.
The violin bit used in the promos, is
already a hit among youngsters.
Unakkul naane
- Madhushree
Madhushree has rendered another version of
the same song with ditto lyrics and music.
Madhushree strongly proves Bharathiyaar's
verses, "Tamil ini mella saagum". Be it
under A.R. Rahman or Yuvan or Harris,
Madhushree's tamil pronunciation is always
pathetic and she is in immediate need of a
good tamil teacher.
Karu karu
- Karthik, Naresh Iyer, Girish
Yet another catchy song with Harris
Jeyaraj's stamp of de ja vu feeling all
over. Charanam part makes the listener
wonder if this is a song from "Pachaikili
muthucharam" or previous album of Harris - "Unnaale
unnaale". It is heartening to listen to
all-Tamil lyrics by Thamarai.
Un siripinil
- Gowthami Rao and Robby
A haunting melody with wonderful performance
by debutant singers Gowthami Rao and Robby.
The speciality of Harris's music is that,
the rhythm pattern never drowns the lyrics,
making the song more enjoyable. A clean
melody number in the footsteps of "uyirile"
from Vettaiyaadhu vilaiyaadhu. Harris should
have avoided the 90% resemblance of the
charanam with "Malargale" song from "Pudhukottaiyilirindhu
Saravanan"
Kaadhal konjam
- Naresh Iyer
Wondering if Goutham menon asked for a song
like "Newyork Nagaram" or Harris was too
much inspired by that song, that we can hear
"Newyork nagaram" being played in our mind
on hearing the song. Naresh has given his
best as usual and this song is sure to
become a huge hit among youth.
All the songs are instantly catchy, hummable
and are sure to be in the playlist of
Satellite channels in repeat mode. Thanks to
Harris Jeyaraj for giving intense exercise
to listener's memory , with each song
resembling his previous compositions.
