Ajit
kumar's "Raaja"gains momentum only in the second half of the movie. The
story is pitted with two priya's (jhothika&prinyaka Trivedi) with
Raja(ajit).Movie starts with drab comedy sequence with Vadivel&Vaiyapuri
makes a valiant attempt to tickle, fails…
Priya
(jhothika) runs away from her parents as the attempt by her father
to get herself in a unmatched wedlock. She takes asylum with Raja.Raja(Ajit)
is totally against getting married to any girl. It's a lengthy
flashback which enacts the knot which director Ezhil has done
with some maturity.
Priya
(Jhothika)a senior in college Bullies priya(PT) to help her in
getting Raja closer to her.But on the contrary Raja falls in love
with Priya(Priyanka Trivedi). It's focus is that both the priya's
land in loving raja.A crude attempt to rape(sonu on priya(PT))
adopted by the director doesn't gel well with the current scenario,outdated..violent
college brawls and road side fights are there..but director gives
..day off.. for the cops..
Sentimental climax at the railway station seem to be a part of
all movies off late. S A Rajkumar's music reminds of old Deva
tunes.'Raja'has all ingredients of a good entertainer but lack
luster first half has thrown a golden chance away for Ajit to
regarded as a romantic hero than a thug hero. sk
