A much-awaited film for Ajith and his fans as his
recent films didn't make any impression in the box office. Ajith
is back in form - looks trim, energetic, dances and fights well.
He plays a dual role -a charming city bus conductor(cum robber)
and his spastic brother. He deserves applause for handling both
the roles well.
There is nothing new in the story - a very usual
Robinhood kind. The story line reminds us of 'Gentleman' and on
top of that a few scenes very much resemble 'Matrix'. God, save
Tamil cinema!
The hero self proclaims himself as villain (for
the bad guys), robs for a noble cause and tactfully escapes. Ajit
has been flattered as 'Azhagan'(handsome) all along since Asai
and the trend is religiously continued in this movie too. Every
girl in the city falls for him. It is high time the directors
realize that hero worship in Tamil cinema is crossing the bearable
limit.
The movie takes a sudden turn with Ajith's sentimental
flash back and the introduction of his dual role. The twin boys
in the flash back have done a commendable job. A violent Villain
role is well played by Fepsi Vijayan.Kiran plays the glamorous
in-law of him and as per the Kollywood code falls for Ajith. Meena
and Ramesh Kanna play the accomplices of Ajit.Meena has nothing
much to do whereas Ramesh Kanna plays his usual friend role well
and lightens the first half. Karunas once again proves that he
has some stuff. All the others come and go.
A typical K.S.Ravikumar movie with all the spices
for a perfect masala mix. He applies his trade mark formula of
few fights, few songs, some comedy, a flash back, bag full of
sentiment and essentially a rape attempt. Vidyasagar has given
some good song numbers. Editing and cinematography are fine too.
Villain has some logical set backs like Ajith
robbing without any disguise and freely roaming as a conductor.
Overall, its old wine in new bottle, can sit
back and enjoy once.
