A Purchase Officer was tempted to become an actor when his MD conceived
him as the model for their own product. This is the little story behind
Vicky, the then Raju Babu. After acting in 6 serials in comparitively
smaller roles,He did a major role in Yethartham and now in Kalisundaam
raa.He has also done commercials for Globus and TSN.His film debu
was in Badri as a friend to Vijay. With a couple of serials and a movie
in hand, this smart and talented youngster is in the right path in
his acting career.
Nilacharal : Tell us about yourself.
Being the only son in the family my parents and sisters shower love
on me.I started my career as a front office executive. My life took
a sudden turn when the MD of our company asked me to be the model
for our leather products. This kindled my interest in acting and started
looking for opportunities
Nilacharal : How did you find
your entry then?
Vicky :I did not take it very
seriously until I was asked to appear for a make-up test by Balaji
Telefilms.Unfortunately I missed the opportunity as my mother expired
on the same day.It was quite a shock and it took some time for me
to get over it.I was back to my routines thinking that the door to
my acting career is closed. My family was also insisting me to get
married .But my friends motivated me to bring the hopes alive and
stay focused. With the total support and help of my good friends,
with a short span of two months I got a chance to act for serial. From
then on I am slowly picking up.
Nilacharal : Do you think you have taken the right decision
in leaving your job and switching to films?
Vicky : Certainly. If I had not
taken this decision,I would have regretted a lot as the company where
I worked bacame sick and got closed.
Nilacharal : How did you cope up with the transition from
a purchase officer to an actor?
Vicky : It was really scary initially.I
recall my very first scene with Mr. Ramji. He is a very casual actor.
He treated me as his friend and encouraged me when it took number
of retakes. That was during my first serial Yethartham which came in
Gemini TV.
I had one or two bitter experiences
as well. For one of the serials by Mr. Sundar K Vijayan, I was asked
to be in the spot my 8 AM.I kept on waiting and by 3 PM I was told
by an Asst. Director that my character in that serial was cancelled
by the Director. But with the very popular sentiment in the industry
that the negative beginning is a good sign for success, I convinced
myself.
Nilacharal : How do
you find the industry now?Are you getting help from your seniors?
Vicky : I got to thank many people
in the Industry today for their care and consideration.I must thank
Mr. James Vasanthan for recognising me and suggesting me to MR. Sanjeev
K Kumar. I am also thankful to Mr. Sanjeev K Kumar for giving me a
good role in his Yethartham. The person whom I can never forget is
Mrs. Jeyasudha. She gave me an opportunity in herserial Janani and
enquires about my growth whenever I see her.
My seniors have taught me to be polite, humble and down to earth.
Nilacharal:How was your experience with Vijai in Badri?
Vicky:Badri was a real good experience
for me.Vijay is known for his punctuality. A very sincere actor and
a super dancer. Throughout the schedule he treated me as one of his
close friends. Vivek helped me a lot in improving my performance.
Nilacharal:what is your future plan?
Vicky:My immediate attention is
in gaining recognition from the entire Tamil film industry. I should
thank Balaji Tele films for giving me a chance to impress the people
in Andhra. They accept me today as Gautham in Kalisundaam Raa. In the
same way, I believe that my forth-coming serials and movie in Tamil
will make me popular in Tamilnadu as well.
Nilacharal:We
wish you all the very best,Vicky.
Vicky:I
thank Nilacharal team for identifying me as a growing artiste and
publishing my interview. I also thank
everyone who reads my interview.Cheers!
Wish him all the good luck, folks!
