A non-profit effort pioneered
by Nilacharal.com, a UK based website in association with Sindhanai
Sirpigal, Coimbatore
Aim :
Connecting kids worldwide for
exchange of knowledge, exposure and culture
Objective : Fostering
a peaceful world by inculcating tolerance in children
Implementation
Process and Methods
Helping
children gather information about different cultures and understand
issues from the others’ perspective. This involves
- Enabling children across the world to communicate
with each other either through e-mail or by post
- By making friends across the
globe, and in the comforting presence of their natural innocence,
children will start realizing that everywhere children are children
- Thereby, they will conquer initial
feelings of shyness and fear and get to realize that the world
is actually one family and despite cultural differences, all
are children of the One Universal Force
- Exchange of ideas, little gifts
of affection, sharing their perception of the world they live
in. This will
- Make the children more aware of the vast universe they are a part
of
- Help them shed their inhibitions,
come to terms with the difference of cultures, learn to
tolerate and gradually appreciate the differences, enabling
them to spread this tolerance to society of which they
are to be the future leaders.

As
a first step towards fulfilling its mission, Nilananbhan will
establish communication between the children in Vaavipalayam,
Coimbatore and the children associated with London Tamil Sangam.
Nilananbhan is currently run on the services offered by volunteers
of Nilacharal and SindhanaiSirpigal. Added infrastructure and
resources will definitely help to make this dream project a success,
so do feel free to write to us if this mission touches you to
share your resources.

A glimpse at the pioneers
Nilacharal.com
aims
at bringing together individuals all over the world by offering
online interests in one site. Exemplary articles by renowned persons
add to the growing readership of this web-based magazine. It has
now carved a niche for itself with its interesting contents, interviews,
good stories, useful articles on self-development and various
etiquette, fair reviews, unbiased reports. Most of the web pages
are designed with special focus on the youth, because Nilacharal
believes that these future leaders are the hope of the future
world. It nurtures the talents of children by highlighting prodigies
and thus motivating more children to tap their hidden skills.
Nilacharal’s programme ‘Smart Students’, is an opportunity
for all-round personality development of students. The programme
helps to develop skills in content generation, web designing,
web authoring, as also improve vocabulary. Students gain wide
exposure by meeting various people, improving communicative skills
and obviously their confidence soars. Where school/college work
does not provide time for such extracurricular activities, students
who enroll in this programme earn while they learn. And thus it
becomes a dual qualification of learning + experience.
Sindhanai
SirpigaL (SSL) as
befits the name that translates to ‘sculptors of thoughts’, is
actively involved in various welfare measures for the downtrodden
children as well as senior members of society through various
free schemes like educational sponsorship programme for children,
career counselling and self-employment assistance for unemployed
youth and health awareness programmes. Their night school scheme
deserves special mention. With two night schools functioning at
Vaavipalayam, aimed at providing education to everyone, SSL currently
benefits 50 people. It plans to start off 8 more schools, with
a drive to attain 100% literacy in the ‘<30 age group’ and
at least 50% (if not more) literacy in the ’30-45 age group’.
