Inter-Personal Skills - An Imporant/Indispensable Aspect of A Human Life
Education must teach us how to be be sociable and acquaintable as interactions teach many lessons. The present system teaches how to manage machines and instruments but hardly there is any stress on developing interpersonal relations. Interpersonal skills are crucial and an indispensable quality when one has to work in a team. As science progresses day by day, the stress is more on inter-disciplinary activities. It could be with respect to difefrnet branches of science or it could be to do with harmonising many different skills on a job. Team working is an important culture for the success in any walk of life. So, it is very important thatwe educate the children to listen and understand others' point of view and also to be amicable with the fellow human-beings.

Respect for Opposite Sex
Another thing to be noted is the fact that after being highly educated, many amongst us view the opposite sex as something alien and outside the boundary of interaction. This kind of stigma and immaturity would only encourage filthy thoughts about the opposite sex and it is the cause of unnecessary confusion during adolescence. Although this is equlaly applicable to both the sexes, this issue is more to do with men. The issues during adolescence of a man could also be due to the inferior opinion that he develops towards womenhood.
The tragic incidence in Chennai that took place two years back where a college girl succumbed to death when uncivilised lads indulged in eve-teasing. Education must tune an individual to respect and treat the opposite sex with dignity. If this is achieved, most of the social evils like dowry, sexual harassment, sexual diseases, women's suppression, and female infanticide would be eradicated.

Opinion is not a judegement
As a social being we ought to sense the feelings of others and be considerate. Education must teach the distinction between an individual's personal opinion and the veracity or judgement over a particular issue at hand. One should not grab the role of a judge which on many occasions leads to hostility and chaos. We must educate the upcoming generation to "respect" the opponent's views more than just tolerating them. This has more significance to the peace starved nation where all sorts of fissiparous campaigns are fast spreading. The compassion for fellow human-beings irrespective of caste, creed, colour, region, and religion is an essential quality that has to be imbibed during school and college education. Even while propagating the principle of secularism the idea to teach the origin and the best preachings of all religions, as a way of leading a meaningful life, would help in reducing communal tension. The stress on the common thread in all religions and the need for communal harmony have to find an important place in our education. A true education would weed out bigotry and fundamentalism, and would propagate humanism through self-extension. The ultimate objective of education is to create individuals who are socially responsible, amicable, and law-abiding.

Moral Instruction Hours
In the mad rush for degrees and the race against time, we lost the purpose, and the energy is frittered away. All these may seem to be generalised remarks. But they are actually not. Moral instruction hours prescribed at school level should be made effective. Even at high school level a certain amount of time must be allotted for discussion on common interests to society and life. This exercise would benefit in developing communication talents also. Subjects on humanity, sex, psychology, music, painting & drawing, human rights, and to some extent behavioural science have to be included in the curriculum to make the education process meaningful.
