Q.  Why this world? Why are we here? You were talking about Atma. Is it any way related to Moksha? If it is, then where does the Atma go?

Initially there was a major source of energy. And because that was millions and millions of years ago, we are unable to comprehend the whole truth within the life span limited to 80 or 100 years. We do not even know what type of architecture existed in Bombay, Delhi or Madras 100 years ago. Only change is constant. Before we complete the research, our life span would be over - - that is not sufficient to discern the truth. This is the first limitation.

The soul graduates across births from a single cellular to a multi-cellular element. All of us are rays of the same Eternal Light. And the Light has millions of rays. No ray is different from the sun and a particular ray alone is not the whole sun. All the rays together converge into the sun. All of us put together is, let us assume, ‘Iswara’. So the question is being asked, the research is being done by the fragment of the same Eternal Energy. The question stems from the minute knowledge you have absorbed from the magnificent Source.

You cannot fathom the depths of an ocean with a contraption made of salt; the salt will dissolve in the water. So too, those who found the answer to this question, never returned to reveal the truth - - because they melted into blissful oneness with the Supreme Lord, the Ocean of Compassion.

In the literal sense, the answer can be this: Dhruva did not get the love he sought from his father. Narada Maharishi advised him, “There is an Eternal Father. You concentrate on Him and you will be in perennial bliss. Do not bother about your perishable father.” So apparently Dhruva meditated constantly on the Ultimate Source called Narayana and Narayana blessed him to be a star in the cosmos, to commemorate Dhruva’s unstinted faith.

The crux is that anyone who has realized the nature of the Cosmic Force becomes one with it and need not take another birth except of his own free will. He becomes another moon, or star or planet. But it takes thousands and thousands of years for a spirit to attain that level.

A satellite cannot move into orbit on its own; only a rocket propels it into space. Similarly, penance stirs the kundalini energy within us and this becomes the rocket guiding you to a higher plane. And if you go beyond a particular gravitational pull, you remain there. But if your electro-magnetic force is limited, then you will be pulled back again to this earth. This is determined by the eternal scheme of things.

The meditation or mind taming or yoga you do is to gain that velocity to propel you skyward. E = mc2. Energy = matter * velocity. Every one of us is a boundless source of energy. This entire world is a fusion of different energies vibrating from each molecular body. One who is able to achieve the required force transcends beyond the realm of thoughts.

When witnessed from the Earth, clouds seem so distant. But when you travel by flight, you are far above the clouds. Spiritual science says there are seven layers like that. And those seven layers are connected to the seven layers or chakras in you.

When you practise selfless love for all beings, you can reach up to the fourth layer (chakra). From there you gradually elevate yourself to the layer or chakra in your throat. This is like the black box in an aeroplane. It treasures all the thoughts of your previous births. When the time is ripe (through penance - - mind focus) for you to do away with these thoughts, you reach the chakra in your crown. From there, a beam travels to the skies connecting you to the Cosmos. That is the ultimate conquest - - the conquest of the Ultimate! It is a very tough process. Yet, it is possible for every one to reach this stage. All that you require is the determination to achieve this. As long as you thirst after material pleasures, that determination eludes you. A person who is done with the world, who determines that “there is no charm in this world; I have seen enough of name, fame, sex, books,” seeks beyond these trifles. And then this bliss is his. The energy that would have been frittered away in worldly pursuits is saved and catapults you to the summit.

Salvation or Moksha is this stage when you have transcended everything and gained the self.
