Love is a unique emotion. Simple definition of love can be ‘caring and sharing’. Somebody should love you for whatever you are, without harping about your faults and blemishes. All over the world people use Valentine’s Day as a pretext for forging friendship and those friendships are not based on love. They are devised for sense gratifications. How long would such relationships last?

Your best Valentine on this earth is God only. Only He fits into your definition of ‘caring and sharing’. God cares for you. He has given you eyes, ears, nose, some dress to wear, parents to look after you, some friends to take care of you, and a mind to think. All these are God’s ways of proving to you that He cares for you. He is willing to share whatever He has. He has created this beautiful world with the vast sky, waters, waterfalls, rivers, the moon, the sun, the star, the galaxy - all these He is sharing with you. God is sharing all what He has with you. He never says ‘I have created this vast expanse of the world. It does not belong to you. It is Mine only’. Whether you want or not, even now your nostrils are breathing in oxygen from the air. What you are exhaling is carbon-di-oxide. You are giving something bad to God. The plants are converting this carbon-di-oxide into oxygen and you are utilising that. Has the air ever rationed the quantum of oxygen that each one breathes? That impartial nature is God. He cares for all. Whether you like Him or not, whether you understand Him or not, whether you thank Him or not, God still cares for you. God still loves you. This aspect you never seem to realise.

Take to God in any loving relationship. It need not be that of a lady and a man. You can look upon Him as Father, Mother, Brother, Boss, Lover, or anything. Whatever be the relationship you fancy with God, God plays that role to perfection, effortlessly. God has no qualities. He is like a mirror. Whoever looks into the mirror will be reflected in the mirror. Similarly whatever role you want God to play, He will play. He has no relationship.

On Valentine’s day my message to all of you is ‘love God’. Because only He fits into the ‘caring, sharing’ yardstick for love and He has already done so much for you. You have never reflected upon whatever He has done for you. Take to Him seriously in any relationship. He is not affected by anything. God is like fire. Fire consumes even trash. Whatever is put in fire, becomes fire. Even if you are the worst sinner, if you come into contact with God, He will make you God.
