Imitation is the beginning of all our
problems. If we imitate someone, we will
never understand him or her because of
that. And if we find out that he or she
is doing something wrong, we will
support him or her, just because we were
imitating! In fact, the reason we want
to imitate someone is that we are scared
to face ourselves; we do not want to
undertake the difficult task of
understanding ourselves, for fear that
we may discover hidden skeletons in the
cupboard! It is convenient to live as
someone’s shadow and imitate him. But
observe: Krishna never imitates anyone.
Buddha does not follow others. Can you
name a person whom Krishna or Buddha or
Christ ever imitated? So why must we try
to imitate anyone?
Observe everyone you meet. Learn and
imbibe good things from them. But do not
follow anyone. Do not follow. Flow. Flow
along with life.
