Q  As a student what should be my first step towards God? 

First step is to be a good student. Whatever be the role you are given, you must play it to the best of your abilities. If you are given the role of a soldier and you play it well, you will gradually be promoted to the cadre of commander-in-chief of the Army. At present, you have been given the role of a student. Perform well, and you will be given a higher role. If you are not able to function as a good student, then you cannot expect any higher role.

So, the answer lies in your question itself. Be a good student. Once you have placed that first step, the other steps will automatically flow. The first step must be placed firm and right. If you want to travel from Chennai to Delhi, and the first step you take is towards Kumbakonam, how can you possibly reach Delhi at the right time?

As a student you are supposed to obey your teachers, love your parents ; maintain your health and  prepare yourself for the future. These are the steps. If you play these parts well, then you are traveling on the right path. Start somewhere.

Don’t think of Faridabad now. You will arrive there at the appropriate time. You will reach Agra at the right time. Just think of the next station and travel towards that. When you reach there, you can think of the next station. Concentrate on your role as a student. Function well in this role and then you can think further.
