இன்றும் இம்மலையில் சித்தர் பெருமக்கள் அரூபமாக வாழ்ந்து வருவதாகக் கூறப்படுகிறது. சித்தர்களின் அதிர்வலைகள் மலையெங்கும் நிறைந்திருப்பதால் அதில் சிறிதாவது தமது உடலில் ஒட்டட்டும் என பக்தர்கள் விரும்பி இங்கு வருகின்றனர்.
சதுரகிரி மலை.
சாதாரண மலைகளைப் போலல்ல இது. வீரியம் நிறைந்த வினோதமான மலை. கணக்கற்ற இரகசியங்களைத் தன்னுள்ளே பொதித்துக் கொண்டு அமைதியாய்க் காணப்படும் அபூர்வ மலை.
சித்தர்களின் இராஜ்ஜியமாகவும், அபாயகரமான காட்டுவாழ் விலங்கினங்களின் புகலிடமாகவும், அபூர்வ சக்திகள் படைத்த மூலிகைகளின் வாழ்விடமாகவும் விளங்கும் இம்மலை, பரம்பொருள் சிவபரமாத்மாவின் அருட்கடாட்சம் பெற்றபடியால் சிவன்மலை என்றும் மகாலிங்க மலை என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.
சிவனும் பார்வதி தேவியும் இங்கே நிரந்தரமாகத் தங்கியிருந்து பக்தர்களுக்கு அருள்பாலிப்பதாக சித்தர்களுக்கு வாக்குத் தந்திருப்பதால் இவ்விடம் தென்கயிலாயம் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.
இம்மலை அஷ்டமாசித்திகள் பெற்ற பதினெட்டு சித்தர்களின் தலைமையிடமாகவும், மற்றும் பல சித்தர்கள் கூடி தத்தம் ராய்ச்சிகளை விவாதிக்கும் இடமாகவும் அறியப்படுகிறது. இம்மலையிலுள்ள நூற்றுக்கணக்கான குகைகளில் தங்கியிருந்து சிவனை வணங்கி வழிபட்டு வந்ததுடன் மக்களின் நோய் தீர்க்கும், துன்பங்களைக் களையும் மருந்துகளைக் கண்டுபிடிக்கும் ராய்ச்சிகளிலும் சித்தர்கள் ஈடுபட்டு வந்துள்ளனர்.
சித்தர்பூமியாம் சதுரகிரியில் எண்ணற்ற மூலிகைகள் நிறைந்த வனம் உள்ளது. இன்றும் இம்மலையில் சித்தர் பெருமக்கள் அரூபமாக வாழ்ந்து வருவதாகக் கூறப்படுகிறது. சித்தர்களின் அதிர்வலைகள் மலையெங்கும் நிறைந்திருப்பதால் அதில் சிறிதாவது தமது உடலில் ஒட்டட்டும் என பக்தர்கள் விரும்பி இங்கு வருகின்றனர்.
அமைவிடம்
சதுரகிரி, தமிழ்நாட்டில் விருதுநகர் மாவட்டத்தில் வத்றாப் என அழைக்கப்படும் வத்திறாயிருப்பு அருகில் உள்ள தாணிப்பாறையில் உள்ளது. வத்றாப்பிலிருந்து சுமார் 10 கிமீ தொலைவிலும், வத்றாப் விலக்கிலிருந்து சுமார் 7 கிமீ தொலைவிலும் தாணிப்பாறை அமைந்துள்ளது.
தென்னந்தோப்புகளும், மாந்தோப்புகளும், கொய்யாத் தோப்புகளும் சூழ தாணிப்பாறை ரம்மியமாய் காட்சியளிக்கும். மலையின் அடிவாரத்திலிருந்து ஏறக்குறைய எட்டு கிமீ தூரத்தில் உச்சியில் மகாலிங்கம் சன்னதி அமைந்துள்ளது. ஒரு மலையல்ல, இரு மலையல்ல.. ஏழு மலைகளைக் கடந்துதான் கோவிலைச் சென்றடைய முடியும்.
மலைகள் சுற்றிலும் சதுர வடிவில் அமைந்த படியால் சதுரகிரி என்று பெயர்பெற்றதாகவும் சொல்கிறார்கள். நான்கு பெரிய மலைகள் கோவிலைச் சுற்றிலும் அரண் போல் அமைந்திருப்பதாலும் அவ்வாறு பெயர் பெற்றதாகச் சொல்வதும் உண்டு. ‘சதுர’ என்றால் நான்கு, ‘கிரி’ என்றால் மலை.
சுற்றிலும் பெரிய மலைகள் இருந்தாலும் சிறு சிறு கிளை மலைகளும் உண்டு. இவற்றையெல்லாம் தாண்டித்தான் மேலே செல்ல வேண்டும். ஒரு மலைக்கும் இன்னொரு மலைக்கும் இடைப்பட்ட பகுதி காட்டாற்றின் போக்கிடமாக உள்ளது.
சதுரகிரி மலை மிகவும் அற்புதமாக இருக்கிற்து. மலைக்கு செல்பவர்கள் தயவு செய்து பிளாஸ்டிக் பொருள்களை தவிர்ப்பது நல்லது.பீடி மற்றும் புகையிலை பொருள்களையும் தவிர்ப்பதும் மிக மிக நல்லது. வாழ்க வளமுடன். அன்பன் சுந்தர ராஜன். தென்காசி.
சதுரகிரி மலைக்கு செல்லும் வழி: மதுரையிலிருந்து திருவில்லிபுத்துர் செல்லவும். (72 கி.மி) அங்கிருந்து தானிப்பாரை செல்ல பேருந்துகல் இருக்கின்ரது.(சுமார் 30 கி.மி) அங்கிருந்து சதுரகிரி மலைக்கு நடந்து செல்ல வேன்டும். Auto facility also available on sundays in watrap.

I have gone to sathuragiri hills twice,when i was doing my M.E in kalasalingamuniversity at srivilliputhur.Marvellous experience.this hill is full of herbs & simpleliving saadhus.i met an adult saint of my age(26) .im an martial artist but still unable to match his walking spped in that steepy hill.That hill is isolated & people are living peacefully atop there with spiritual clouds.u can see a forest river passing down the valley,forest bulls ,monkeys etc., if u step down u can find ahathiyar theertham (a small bog/pond) where agathiyar fetched the eternal water.but now it is polluted by poly bags etc., due to merciless visitors.also,near that a rock with 2-3 feet gap at the bottom will leads you to a dark cave.an aged woman with a simple lamp with thiruneer will shock you with her smile & blessings.when i enquired the tribals there,you can go to a secret place of suyambulingam sorrounded by man eating trees like our nepenthes.i didnt believe it but they bet about it.atop the hill a cave with a water falls which is the place where parvathi used to come ,bath and sing during pournami(full moon day) the priests said they heard it once.totally this hill is full of secrets ,mysteries,spirits of siddhas ,vapours of bhakthi is everywhere, go and encounter the spiritual adventure.if you want more infomail me.
i went to sathuragiri twice when i was doing my master degree in kalasalingam univ.if u want to feel the shivam within ur soul,u can achieve there.i enquired about the stories of that hill with a local tribe.Once there lived a man who owned lots of cows,he found there was no milk available with his cows.falling in doubt,he spyed the forest & found an adult boy drinks all the milk out of the cows.He captured him & beatenhim on his head by his knuckles with severe angriness.suddenly the boy slanted his neck & screamed inpain...next happened the miracle the boy became a moderately white coloured shivlinga in a tilted position..if u see the linga there keenly u can find the angle little tilted..lots of sectrets still continues in ths hill,like in night times the siddharhal roam this forest in the form of tigers. once during one amaavaasai,many people has been washed away at the entry of the thaanipaarai base due to sudden flood in the valley..those with false love on shiva & polluted soul seems to be punished as locals said.if u r really in spiritual mood u can encounter unexpectedly lots of saints meditating and feeding animals in remote areas of that secret hill.they live there without external worlds interest left all families ,but only in the search of siddhas & shivam.unfortunately im an atheist but still loves pure tamil siddhas powers,which is not blended with brahminism.there was also man killing giant trees (like nepenthes - but botanical history says those trees are not existing anywhere in world) near suyambulingam(self developed rock lingam around 60 feet height) inside deep forest where only tribals can enter..if u wish they can lead u there,but u have to stay there & develop the trust with them.

Our first Sathuragiri Darshan on 9th-Feb-2008,being unable to forget ever it was our marriage day. On 10th early morning Maha Yagam at Shri.Sundara Mahalingam Sannadhi by our beloved friends of Sri.Hanumathdasanji,Varadanji,Govardhanji,Venkateshji and many more.More than 200 pilgrims participated. Second time I went Sathuuragiri along with my friend Sri.Sampath.This time along with us not even 10 persons at hills.This time when we started at mountain 3 dogs (as siddhas) came upto Sannidhanam.When third time went with Sri.S.Ponnuswamy,S.vanniyarajan one of new friend joined with us in train Sri.Sudalaimani (Police Official) even though he had heart surgery six months before.Recently on 28th-Feb-2011 myself,Sri.Ramesh,Vanniyarajan,Nagarajan started from chennai to Sathuragiri pilgrim tour via Srivilliputhur,Krishnankoil,Vathirayiruppu,Thanipparai.On 1st-March reached hill worshiped Sri.Santhanamahalingam, Sri.Sundaramahalingam, Sri.Sundaramurthymahalingam and stayed at hill. On 2nd MahaSivarathiri day once again worshiped and the very same day night worshiped Madurai Meenatchi & Sundareswarar. last week i went to sathuragiri malai. a group fifteen members joined together to reach that hill. it gives me such pleasure experinece. i never saw that kind of temple in my life. our guide covered all the areas in two days. he knows nook and corner of the hill. we are all saw the abisegam peacefully,. i went to thavasi cave it gave rich experinece for me. our team devotees are cooperated very much each other. two lady are joined in our team. among the fifteen four persons are came for first time. a dog shows the right path to reach the top. i saw a butterfly flying in front of me during i get down the moutain. i think that butterfly is (Ram surathkumar ji siddhar). during night i saw a light passes through our route. really we are enjoyed the moutain wind, i drank too much naval pond water it is very tasty to drink and ma pond water too. i planned to go next monthwith the same team.
