You are performing penance every day of your life, without being aware of it.
The All-Compassionate Lord knows your needs.
You are not in a position to renounce everything and go to the forest seeking Him. So He has given you a house for shelter,
dress to wear, food to eat, and a family to live with. And amidst all these, He has also given opportunities in the form of petty woes to help you
experience and get over your karmas – this is penance. Understand and trust this. This is the
only Truth. If you can comprehend this, you will understand the essence of life.
