Q: Are miracles true?

Miracles do happen.

1. There is this internet story of a little American girl who overheard her parents discussing the critical health condition of her infant brother. Hearing them say that ‘only a miracle can save him now’, she emptied her savings - - one dollar and eleven cents - - and went to the pharmacy to ‘buy a miracle’. When the pharmacist told her he did not sell miracles, she insisted she could arrange for more money if required and pleaded with him to ‘give her a miracle’ that would save her brother who was in his deathbed. The pharmacist’s brother asked her to declare her savings and asserting that one dollar and eleven cents was all he needed to sell the miracle to her, accompanied her to her home. Apparently, that man was a famous neurosurgeon and he offered to operate on the little boy for free, because he was overwhelmed with the girl’s faith.

When a child goes in search of a miracle which alone she believes will save her brother, God responds, by keeping a surgeon who can help, handy at the shop. That is how miracles happen.

All you need to do is trust absolutely in God. God will perform miracles in some form in your life. You may not even be consciously aware of it. If you understand this, you will never be perturbed by anything in your life. You will witness everything in your life with a detached state of mind, knowing that there is nothing you need to do, except pray.

2  All the villagers of a village decided to perform a yagam to appease the deities and bring forth rains on the drought-ridden land. As they walked to the sea shore, they saw a girl holding an umbrella in her hands. The villagers teased her, ‘We have been suffering from lack of rain for the past five years; why do you carry this umbrella unnecessarily?’ To which the girl replied, ‘We have set out to worship the Gods to grant us rain. If our prayers are answered, it will definitely rain. But for our prayers to be answered, all of us will have to carry umbrellas, since that alone is a sign of our trust that the Gods will give us rain.’

If our faith in God is total, miracles happen. The only impediment is your faithlessness, or half baked faith. Trust, and trust absolutely. Then miracles will happen because thoughts are that powerful.
